Today, only 15 veterans of the Great Patriotic War live in the North Kazakhstan region. Kozhatai Nekibayev is one of them. The 97-year-old Petropavlovsk man will celebrate the 77th anniversary of the Great Victory the other day. A group of students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Petropavlovsk congratulated the veteran on this holiday. The children presented their gifts, wished them good health and settled around the elder to listen to a real history lesson. Our countryman went to war as a 17-year-old boy. In bloody battles, he defended the defense, liberated his country from the enemy, and came to his native Kazakhstan victorious. Although 77 years have passed since the last echo of the war, Kozhatai ata still remembers those terrible days. He told the children about the long and difficult period of his life from conscription in 1943 until the spring of 1945, when the soldiers heard about the victory.
From 1943 to 1944, we were taught the intricacies of military affairs, after which we went to fight in Ukraine, and then to Romania, Austria and Czechoslovakia. The enemy did not want to give up. In particular, the Fascists put up strong resistance in close proximity to Germany and tried to maintain their positions. However, at the end of April 1945, we received the joyful news that Germany had capitulated,” the veteran said.
In peacetime, Kozhatai Nekibayev devoted his whole life to raising children, such as today’s students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School. For more than 30 years he worked at the Orman secondary school of his native Zhambyl district. The veteran has been retired for the last 37 years. During the meeting, the victory soldier gave the youth his parting words.
Today your main task is to get a good education. Use all your knowledge and create, invent new things. Never be afraid of difficulties, just go ahead,” wished Kozhatai Nekibayev.
The children, in turn, played the dombra for the veteran of the Great Patriotic War and promised that they would definitely come to the 100th anniversary of the veteran.
