The regional qualifying stage of the robotics competition World Robot Olympiad 2022 was held at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Petropavlovsk.
It was attended by young designers and programmers of 4 schools in the region.
Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools is the National organizer of the World Robotics Olympiad in Kazakhstan. This type of competition gives young people the opportunity to develop their creativity and problem-solving skills in an exciting way. In each season, WRO announces a new theme and tasks corresponding to the age of the participants. This year the Olympiad was held under the name “My robot — my friend”. The regional stage of the Olympiad was organized on the basis of NIS .Petropavlovsk. Teams from 4 schools took part in it – students – Kyzylzhar Abai orta mektebi, secondary school No. 6 named after Kozhabergen Zhyrau and the First City Comprehensive IT Lyceum competed with the hosts of the Olympiad. In the city school named after Kozhabergen Zhyrau, the robotics cabinet appeared only this academic year. Despite such a short time, the guys managed to master the basics of robotics and present their team in the junior category “Robomission”.
The children prepared themselves for a week, assembled robots, programmed them. Their task is to assemble a garden robot that will weed weeds in certain places, mow the lawn. I hope the team of our school will show a good result,” said Yerlan Baltabek, a computer science teacher at Kozhabergen Zhyrau Secondary School No. 6.
Merey Zhusupova and Sanzhar Aydosuly justified the coach’s hopes and took first place in their category.
At this time, robots in the “RoboSports” category were fighting on the battlefield. The cars had to collect tennis balls on their territory. With robots of students from the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Petropavlovsk, cars of students of the First City Comprehensive IT Lyceum entered the field and took second place.
I have been doing robotics for several years now. We were a little unlucky today. But we have gained experience, I will continue to do what I love,” said Timofey Ryabokon, a student of the 7th grade of the First City Comprehensive IT Lyceum.
The combination of robotics and artificial intelligence can change the world and especially the human environment, according to participants of the Robotics Olympiad. Students not only tested their robots for dexterity and mobility, but also offered projects involving robots to help people. Thus, in the creative category “Future Innovators”, the first places in age were taken by students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Petropavlovsk Arlan Mukhamedzhanov, Vladislav Prosekov and students of Kyzylzhar Abai mektebi Maxim Baranov and Olga Nasonova. It should be noted that the team of the same school, consisting of Stanislav Zhartkeev and Danil Grabovsky, won first place in the “RoboMission” category among juniors, the third place also went to their fellow villagers Zhansar Sadriev and Evgeny Semyachko. In the category “RoboMission” in the junior group, the guys from Kyzylzhar Abai orta mektebi also took 2nd and 3rd places.
The team of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Petropavlovsk has 3 first and the same number of second places in the piggy bank. The teams that won the first places will go to the republican stage of the Olympiad in June.
